E komo mai (welcome) to
LOMIFLOW

Lomiflow is a wellness practice in Sunshine West, on Bunurong land in Naarm/Melbourne, in the living space of Lomi-giver Lizzie Doyle. All bodyminds are welcome here. Please be in touch if you have access requirements or any obstacles preventing attending/receiving Lomilomi.

Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi utilises ancient practices to encourage deep relaxation and surrender, allowing the body’s own healing process to take effect. There are many physiological benefits including circulatory, musculoskeletal and neurological, and includes deep energetic work.

You will be held in a very safe, deep space of Aloha, which translates as unconditional love and also to live love in each life breath.

Some people come to reconnect to their bodies with self love, some come to do somatic work on held traumas in a safe space and/or to unblock emotion, and some come simply for deep relaxation to break away from anxious thoughts, busy minds and the stresses of modern-day life.
A session with Lizzie will focus on whatever you want to bring into the light, or to leave behind. They hold a deep, caring space and work without opinion, bringing deep listening, an open heart, and a commitment to drawing upon the ancient and sacred traditions of Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi.
Whether you seek a relaxing, nurturing massage to let go of tension and stress, or a deep, transformative encounter with the self with specific intentions, Lizzie warmly welcomes you to drop in to, and connect deeply with your miraculous self - and through this enable great healing and growth.

What will happen?

It can be very helpful to set an intention for the massage. Is there anything you’re holding on to that you want to shift, and/or some dynamic or energy you want to bring in? There will be time before the Lomi commences to discuss what is going on for you presently in your life and to help focus the experience with an intention.

The Lomi uses long flowing strokes over and under the whole body, excluding genitals and nipples, but including head, chest, glutes, abdomen and head. Oil is used and you are welcome to shower afterwards.
You will be unclothed, but genitals and bottom will always be completely covered by an expertly draped sarong. There are gentle stretches of limbs, adapted for the individual’s range of movement, pule (non-religious prayer) which will help to serve the intention of the massage, deeply relaxing music, and the Lomi room is heated to aid deep relaxation.
Any release of emotion during the session is welcome, sometimes different energies move through the body, and this is where the power of the work resides. Lizzie will encourage whatever comes to flow and continue to hold the space, listening to your body and working in response to your experience. Some people drop into a very deep space; this will be held in deep reverence and you will be gently eased back into the present reality when the session reaches completion. Some people fall asleep. Some people laugh. Or cry. Or yawn prolifically. All sorts of feelings flow and it’s all welcome. The shifts in energy and physiological benefits can be enormously healing and can bring much vitality and balance in the bodymind.

About the practitioner.

Lizzie first received Lomilomi in 2007 and was stunned by its capacity to connect the receiver deeply and intimately with the inner self. This resonated strongly with their ongoing research investigating the integration of body-mind. They knew then that one day when the timing was right, they wanted to learn and share the art of Lomilomi.
Lizzie received initial training in 2020 and then went on to receive further training with Charlie Snow in 2022 at The Blisstitute of Living Aloha, qualifying as a professional practitioner. Alongside this knowledge, they bring creative experience and insights through their previous career in psychophysical performance, including the development of therapeutic programs designed to activate embodiment and reduce mind-body dualism.
On a personal level, Lizzie is genderqueer and has lived experience of dysphoric and dysmorphic disorders, which brings a focus into the work on developing deep self-love.
Lizzie is a proud parent of two humans and three felines.

Lizzie's Kumu (teacher), Charlie Snow, has learned Lomilomi and Hawaiian wisdom from Hawaiian teachers for over 20 years. For deeper information on Lomilomi, its historical background and how to study with Charlie, please visit the Blisstitute website: https://www.blisstitute.com/

The Lomi Room is a cosy, private sanctuary in Lizzie’s home. There is parking available.
The location can feel like a very personal space, with evidence of family life, creative projects and cats! It usually helps people to feel Lizzie as a real person, and hopefully at ease in the environment. It also helps to keep pricing low, as the overheads are much lower than if an industry space were being used, and there is the recommended option of showering afterwards and re-entering the real world super fresh!
Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting some (washable) oil on.
Please do not dye hair 48 hours before the session.
